You may have read our reviews recently on the great products from JVC's Arsenal range. These included the ARS650 2 Way Components included in our 'Under $600 Component Set' comparison, and the CA-AW8250 12" Subwoofer reviewed here. Dale Eastman, Marketing Coordinator for JVC contacted us this week to advise us that they've decided to lower the recommended retail prices of these highly regarded products.

The ARS650 6.5-inch components have been reduced to just $299RRP, which slashes a massive 25% off their price! This does pose the question however of how they would have stacked up against the more affordable sub-$300 component sets reviewed recently. While the outright scores for the JVC (119 out of a possible 150) are higher overall than all of the sub-$300 components sets including the Hertz ESK 165s (114/150) Morel Maximo 6s (109/150), unfortunately we cannot easily make this comparison. The JVC set were reviewed at a different time and against a different batch of speakers, and the scores for each set are to be taken in context of the groups overall capabilties.

Had the JVC set been reviewed simultaneously with the sub-$300 component sets, the scores for all of the prodiucts may have differed. Either way, Damon reckons that at just $299RRP the ARS650 component set from JVC offer excellent value for money and therefore encourages anyone to audition them as a prospective set to own.

Likewise, the CS-AW8250 12-inch subwoofer has come in for a massive discount, with the price falling from $579 down to just $419! Given that Damon had already scored this subwoofer very highly across all measured aspects we'd have to agree with Dale from JVC that this new lower price makes the CS-AW8250 one of the best value high performance subwoofers you can buy today.
